Wordpress 2.3.2 Woes

January 2nd, 2008 by Robyn

I’ve decided to bite the bullet and install Wordpress 2.3.2 on my local testing server so I can develop some themes and update some others. It’s been awhile since I had done this, so it took a bit of minor hair pulling to go thru it again. Nothing major, just my memory lapses. But, after all that, I found a bug in the darn thing that has not been resolved and I don’t know when it will be. Others have found it, too, and it doesn’t look like much satisfaction is being handed out over at the dot org forums.

Seems that when you insert an image and don’t apply any alignment, it’s fine. But give it an alignment and the image disappears — because the editor gives it a width and height value of “1″ which makes it disappear. On the WP forums, some folks claim this only happens in IE7, but since most of my viewers are using IE7, what good does this do?

One solution is to wait, and hand code in the alignment. But who knows html off the top? Just programmers. The other solution is to downgrade to 2.3.0, which is the solution for me. Why? Because if I install 2.3.2 for a client, I know this will be a problem.

So now I have to start over again tomorrow. I hope this first workday of 2008 is not foreshadowing.
