Notes

There are many ways to design and build a site. Many tools are open source.

PORTFOLIO

The Degenhardt Foundation

An international nonprofit humanitarian organization. This site is made with Dreamweaver, using XHTML and CSS with server-side includes. A redesign is in the works and will be launching soon. The new design also uses server-side-includes to aid in the ease of updating. Wordpress Sites

K. Harger: Assignment Connection

Wordpress is a blogging tool, but sites can also be built with it as a content management system. A teacher friend recently asked me to develop a CMS that allowed her to offer lesson synopses and homework assignments for absent students. Wordpress was the perfect tool. This theme, which I call "homework," is based on a theme by Arcsin. I worked with the basic stylesheet and Wordpress php code to provide an easy-to-use CMS. You can see this in action at kharger.com.

Zachary Earl Smith

Putting the County First

Zachary Earl Smith is running for the Maine State House, District 7, in central Aroostook Conty, Maine. He wanted a cms with a lot of functionality and liked the way Wordpress was fairly intuitive to use. Having a computer background, Zachary took to the backend of the theme very quickly. He chose Justin Tadlock's magazine theme called Structure, which Dubbah Design helped to customize to get Zachary started. Zak's been making the site his own.

Sean Peter Flahery

Sean Peter Flaherty is running for the Maine State House, District 127, Scarborough, Maine. He wanted a basic cms, so he chose Wordpress and one of my themes, which happened to fit his color scheme. He has been busy with his site, adding content and proving once again how Wordpress can be the right tool.

Robert L. Weiner Consulting

Strategic Technology Advisors to NonProfits and Educational Institutions

Robert L. Weiner Consulting helps organizations make informed, strategic decisions about the use of information technology for management and fundraising. He wanted a new look and a basic cms, so he went with Wordpress, also. The Wordpress theme is called Beachland, designed by Wordpress Theme Shop. There's a free version with some ad links, and for a very reasonable fee, you can get permission to remove the ads. Dubbah Design worked with Robert to customize the theme and functions to meet his needs.
